Biochar is a mixture of carbon and ashes, created from the residue of the pyrolysis of biomass. In this project the biomass source will be Gliricidia Sepium branches.

The demand for biochar in the Sri Lankan Tea sector alone is estimate to be 1,000,000 MT per annum.
